Rainbow Piano Technique

When 3-year-old Richard's mom tried to teach him the piano she couldn't find the right teaching material. Thus, she made her own. Now, you can profit yourself.

The songs in this book are composed on the grand staff, and the notes are colored according to pitch. Colored markers corresponding to the notes are provided in the book. These markers can be cut out and attached to a piano keyboard, e.g., with transparent tape (the tape is not included in the book).

This combination of color and grand staff allows even very young students (2 to 3 years old) to learn both-hand piano playing. Learning with both hands right from the start helps developing great artistry. In addition, we made the book very wide and chose big notes to ease score reading for beginners.

Our book is a tool for learning. It does not contain instructions on how to learn the piano. On the market you find many books on how to learn the piano. Our motivation is to provide the missing element: a color technique on a proper score, i.e., grand staff, proper fingering, and rhythm suitable for young beginners. The Rainbow Piano Technique starts with a simple rhythm (all quarter notes) and gradually progresses to more complicated rhythms.

The colored notes are intended for the beginning only. Eventually, students will transition to black and white. From our experience, the timing for such a transition should be adjusted to each individual student. We recommend to gradually remove the colored markers after a student masters all songs in the book.
